• Tom Waits Experience

After first meeting Mr. Waits on Terry Gilliam’s  ”The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”, Charmaine was asked to assist in the creation of a Stage for his “Glitter and Doom” tour that travelled through the Southern United States and parts of Europe during the Summer of 2008.

“Never have I been so inspired to create as I was when working with Mr. Waits. His creative energy permeates all who are around him. There is a magic about him and his personality that is matched by only a handful of individuals. Into the wee hours, I would work away in my mobile studio enjoying every moment until the stage was finished.  I remember the first time we met; I felt such a powerful creative force that was like no other inspiration I have ever experienced. Thanks Tom, our planet is a better place with your influence!”.

Let me explain this video a bit…. without giving away any spoilers. This is me getting floppy and making up a spoof audition of my hand mimicking a jelly fish for “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”.  As you can hear, I was interrupted. After gold leafing my hand print on Tom Waits’ crash box, I was reminded of a day on set when Terry Gilliam came to look at my hands for an insert shot.  Isn’t it nice when something different is recognized as beautiful?  Good Times!!
